Puttur Lokayukta officials arrested Sunil, a First Division Assistant (FDA) at the Puttur Tahsildar office, on Thursday evening for allegedly accepting a bribe. The arrest took place at the Land Reforms Branch in the Puttur Taluk Administrative Complex.
Sunil was caught red-handed taking Rs 12,000 from a complainant seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the sale of land under the Akrama Sakrama scheme. The complainant’s uncle had 65 cents of land, which were transferred to the complainant via a will, with the NOC application filed in December 2024.
Lokayukta officials indicated that Tahsildar Kudalagi is also implicated and remains absconding. A search operation is underway to locate him.
The Lokayukta raid was conducted under the supervision of SP Kumar Chandra, with DySP Dr. Gana P. Kumar and Inspectors Bharati, Chandrashekhar K.N., and Ravi Pawar, supported by staff members including Mahesh, Rajappa, Radhakrishna, Adarsh, Vivek, Vinayak, Praveen, Ganganna, Nagappa, Mahadeva, Pavitra, Dundappa, Rudragowda, and Rajashekhar.
A thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the alleged bribery and the involvement of other officials.
