In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Chandanpur Police in Puri district arrested three individuals on Saturday for allegedly supplying brown sugar in the Chandanpur area. During the operation, authorities seized 157.38 grams of brown sugar along with Rs 1,63,520 in cash.
The arrested have been identified as Pradip Kumar Panda, Litu Pradhan, and Niranjan Parida, all residents within Chandanpur police limits.
Following a tip-off, the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Chandanpur Police Station and his team conducted a raid at Bahabalpur Square on New Jagannath Road. The trio was caught red-handed, and a thorough search recovered the drugs and cash.
Puri SP Prateek Singh, while briefing the media, stated, “This is a significant success in our ongoing anti-drug campaign. Acting on intelligence about interstate drug suppliers, the Special Squad, SDPO Sadar team, and Chandanpur IIC coordinated efforts to track and arrest the suspects.”
He added that intensified efforts will continue to make Puri a drug-free district, with more crackdowns planned in the future.
