Two employees of the Punjab Transport Department have been suspended after being found involved in drug trafficking, with the process to terminate their services now underway. Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar made the announcement on Tuesday, confirming that the two individuals—a transport inspector and a conductor—had been arrested by Jalandhar police.
The arrested individuals, Inspector Kirat Singh and Conductor Deepak Sharma from Punjab Roadways, Jalandhar-2, were charged in connection with a drug trafficking case registered by the Special Cell, Commissionerate, Jalandhar. Following the arrest, the minister confirmed that the office orders for their suspension had been issued by the department.
Minister Bhullar reiterated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has committed to strict action against any department employee found involved in drug trafficking or unscrupulous activities, emphasizing that no one would be spared, and immediate steps would be taken.
