In a major drug bust, the Kutch East Special Operations Group (SOG) apprehended four individuals from Punjab, including two women, on Friday night. The team seized 147.67 grams of cocaine, valued at Rs1.47 crore. The four suspects were intercepted on the national highway connecting Lakhadiya village to Samakhiyari in Kutch’s Bhachau taluka.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Hanish Singh Binder Singh (27), Sandeep Singh Pappu Singh (25), his wife Arshdeep Kaur Sandeep Singh (21), and Jaspal Kaur alias Suman Gulwant Singh (29). They all hail from Rampura village in Punjab’s Bathinda district and share familial ties. Authorities are now on the lookout for Gulwant Singh alias Sunny Singh, the mastermind behind the cocaine shipment, who remains at large. He is also related to Jaspal Kaur.
According to PSI V P Ahir of the Kutch East Special Operations Group, the team was conducting a routine vehicle inspection when they discovered a suspicious substance beneath the air filter under the vehicle’s bonnet. The substance was later confirmed to be cocaine after testing by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
The suspects allegedly traveled to Kutch with the intention of distributing the cocaine in the region. Gulwant Singh had reportedly arranged the delivery, with his wife Jaspal Kaur and the other accomplices tasked with the smuggling operation. Authorities are currently interrogating the suspects to gather more information about their intended recipients in Kutch and their involvement in previous drug deliveries to the area.
