The Special Cell of Punjab Police has arrested a notorious drug dealer from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, who has been supplying drugs to multiple states across India. The arrest took place after a series of raids conducted at Awas Vikas Colony, Ghatiya Azam Khan, Khatik Pada, and Fawwara areas of Agra.
Acting on a tip-off, the Special Cell arrived in Agra three days ago following information about an intricate drug racket operating in the region. The operation began after Punjab Police recently intercepted a large consignment of banned drugs being transported from Agra to Jalandhar in Punjab.
On the night of Saturday, the police raided a well-known drug market in Fawwara and apprehended the drug dealer, who is believed to be a major supplier of illegal substances to Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and West Bengal.
The arrested drug dealer was then taken to Punjab on Sunday night to face legal proceedings. Authorities have filed charges under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) and Arms Act. This bust is part of a broader crackdown on cross-state drug trafficking networks.
The investigation into this case gained momentum after the arrest of two suspects by the Amritsar Rural Police, who had been caught trafficking 7 kilograms of heroin, along with firearms and ammunition. The arrested individuals revealed the vast network of drug suppliers operating out of Agra, sending illegal substances to several states across India.
