In a strong crackdown against drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Squad 1 of the Pune City Police’s Crime Branch arrested 31-year-old Arjun Sukhram Kala in Kondhwa. The arrest followed a routine patrol focused on combating crime and drug abuse.
Kala, residing at Flat No. 203, Street No. 2, Shikshak Nagar, Kamthe Patil Nagar, Yewalewadi, was caught with 256.58 grams of opium and 1.728 kilograms of poppy straw (doda chura). The total estimated market value of the seized narcotics is Rs5,13,160. Police also recovered Rs25,920 cash from him.
The arrest occurred on a public road near Yash Complex, Kamthe Patil Nagar, Kondhwa. A case has been registered under Sections 8(a), 15(b), and 17(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Kondhwa Police Station (Case No. G.R. 418/2025).
The operation was led by Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Patil (Administration and Crime), Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle (Crime), and Assistant Commissioner of Police Ganesh Ingle (Crime 1). Senior Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam supervised the team from Anti-Narcotics Squad 1, with on-ground support from Inspector Aniket Pote, PSI Digambar Kokate, and other personnel.
Pune City Police reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating the drug menace and urged the public to report suspicious drug-related activities promptly.
