The Pune Crime Branch on November 2 arrested a 19-year-old youth, Anshuman Yadav, from Shirur in connection with copper thefts from electrical transformers.
Police recovered copper wire worth Rs 2 lakh from Yadav. Investigations revealed that the accused was responsible for multiple thefts, and his arrest has led to the detection of three related cases.
Authorities said the operation was part of a broader effort to curb the theft of valuable copper from transformers, which often disrupts power supply and causes significant losses to electricity boards.
Yadav has been taken into custody, and further investigations are ongoing to determine if he was part of a larger network of copper thieves.
