Pune Crime Branch Arrests 2 in 17-Year-Old Murder

Teens Lured Victim to Katraj Over Old Rivalry

by Ananya Mehta

The Pune Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested Prathamesh Chindu Adhal (19) and Nagesh Balaji Dhabale (19) and detained two minors for abducting and murdering 17-year-old Amansingh from Vishrantwadi on December 29. The victim had been lured to Katraj to settle an old rivalry.

Amansingh’s mother, Anita Surendrasing Gachand (44), filed a missing person complaint on December 31 after her son did not return from work. Using mobile records, police traced his last location to Katraj, where the accused contacted him via a fake social media profile posing as a girl.

The victim was abducted and taken to a hilly area in Khed-Shivapur, where he was assaulted with stones and billhooks. The accused claimed the attack was revenge for past incidents. The body was buried to destroy evidence; authorities are coordinating with the local tehsildar to exhume it.

The arrested duo has been remanded to police custody until January 9, while the two minors were sent to an observation home.
