In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Pune Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) seized narcotics worth over Rs27 lakh during two separate operations in Kondhwa and Bibvewadi. Two individuals, including a resident from Rajasthan and a local from Bibvewadi, were arrested.
The first operation in Kondhwa, near Bhairavnath Temple, led to the arrest of Bhagirathram Ramlal Bishnoi (46) from Tilekar Nagar, Kondhwa. Police constable Sachin Malve acted on a tip-off and recovered opium valued at Rs14.98 lakh along with an electronic weighing scale. A case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Kondhwa Police Station.
In a second raid, the ANC arrested Vitthal alias Anna Raghunath Karade (57), a Bibvewadi resident, following information received by constable Azeem Shaikh. Officers recovered 55 grams of the synthetic drug mephedrone worth Rs11 lakh, a mobile phone, and a weighing scale, totaling Rs11.24 lakh in seizures.
These coordinated raids were conducted under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner Vivek Masal, and Assistant Commissioners Ganesh Ingle and Rajendra Mulik. The ground teams were led by Police Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad, PI Prashant Annachatre, Assistant Inspector Nitin Naik, and personnel Yogesh Mandhre, Chetan Gaikwad, Sandeep Shelke, Nitin Jagdale, Yuvraj Kamble, and Dinesh Bastebad.
The Pune ANC’s operation highlights the ongoing battle against narcotics trafficking in urban areas and emphasizes the need for continuous efforts to curb the drug menace.
