In a major operation against illegal narcotics, Pulwama police arrested two individuals and seized a large consignment of suspected narcotics during a routine naka operation at Rahmoo Bridge, Rajpora.
A police party from Police Post Rahmoo intercepted a suspicious Tata Mobile vehicle (registration JK09D-7662) during a routine check. Upon searching the vehicle, officials recovered 1 kilogram and 130 grams of a brown sugar-like substance concealed inside.
The occupants, identified as Muneer Ahmed Sheikh, son of Abdul Hameed Sheikh, and Toufeeq Ahmed Sheikh, son of Muhammad Rafiq Sheikh, both residents of Hajitra Karna, Pulwama, were immediately taken into custody. The vehicle used for transporting the narcotics was also seized.
Police said the recovered contraband was intended for further distribution within the district, and its seizure represents a significant blow to the local narcotics trade.
An FIR No. 124/2025 has been registered under Sections 8, 21, and 29 of the NDPS Act at Rajpora Police Station. Investigations are ongoing to trace the full supply chain, including the source and potential recipients. Authorities are also working to identify other individuals involved and determine any links to larger drug networks in the region.
Officials emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in drug-related activities.
