Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin has once again found himself in legal trouble after being arrested for domestic violence and drug possession in Torrance, California.
The 52-year-old rocker was taken into custody on March 11 at around 4 a.m., according to online records. He was booked approximately an hour later on felony charges.
Details of the Arrest
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that police responded to a call at an apartment around 3 a.m. following a dispute between Scantlin and his girlfriend. Authorities determined that an argument between the two had allegedly turned physical, with the woman showing visible marks on her arms.
During a search, officers reportedly found a controlled substance on Scantlin, leading to additional charges.
Online records indicate that Scantlin remained in custody until March 15, when he was released on $90,000 bail.
Dispute Over Charges
Scantlin’s lawyer, Robert Hankoff, has pushed back against reports of a felony domestic violence charge, telling Page Six that the case is a misdemeanor, and he expects his client to be cleared once all facts are presented.
However, online records reviewed by Page Six confirm that the felony charge relates to drug possession, while the domestic violence case is classified as a misdemeanor.
Scantlin’s Troubled Legal History
This isn’t Scantlin’s first brush with the law.
In 2015, he was arrested twice in one month for DUI.
In August 2024, he was pepper-sprayed by police for resisting arrest during a traffic stop.
At that time, officers also discovered an outstanding warrant for allegedly carrying a weapon at an airport.
Scantlin has yet to publicly comment on his latest arrest, and his next court date remains unconfirmed.
