The state government has approved the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s (ACB) application to attach the property of Mansukh Sagathia, the former Chief Town Planning Officer of Rajkot, who was arrested in connection with the tragic TRP Game Zone fire in May 2024, which claimed 27 lives.
Sagathia was arrested for corruption, and following this, the state granted the ACB’s request to seize his property valued at Rs 23,15,48,256. According to ACB sources, during his time in office, Sagathia abused his position to acquire wealth through illegal means. While he legally earned Rs 3,86,85,647, he amassed an additional Rs 28,17,93,981 in assets, including fixed and movable property in the names of his relatives. In total, Sagathia’s assets amounted to Rs 24,31,08,334 from corrupt practices.
The ACB will now move to court under Section 3(1) of the Criminal Law Amendment Act to officially attach Sagathia’s assets.
