Police have arrested the prime accused in connection with the seizure of nearly 2kg of ganja during a raid at the men’s hostel of Govt Polytechnic College in Kalamassery on Sunday. The arrested individual, Anuraj R, 21, is a third-year mechanical engineering student at the college, originally from Karunagappilly, Kollam.

Two former students, Ashiq, 20, and Shalik KS, 21, were arrested on Saturday for supplying the ganja. Police say Anuraj had organized a donation drive on campus for Holi celebrations, using the collected funds to pay Ashiq and Shalik, who then provided the ganja to bring to the campus.

The police tracked down Anuraj based on the statements of Ashiq and Shalik. Through further investigation, authorities uncovered a drug racket capable of delivering ganja to the campus at any time. Anuraj was identified as a key figure in the network, which supplied cannabis and other narcotics to polytechnic students both in bulk and retail.

The investigation continues as police work to dismantle the wider drug distribution network operating in the area.
