A youth was fatally stabbed late Sunday night in Baikampady following a quarrel over money for alcohol. The deceased has been identified as Sachin Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh residing in Baikampady, while the accused is Praveen Shivashankarappa from Belagavi district, currently living in a rented house nearby.
According to police, the two lived in neighbouring houses. Earlier on Sunday, Sachin reportedly asked Praveen for money to buy alcohol. Praveen refused and sent him away. Later that night, after consuming alcohol, Sachin allegedly went to Praveen’s house and verbally abused his parents. In a fit of rage, Praveen stabbed Sachin in the neck with a knife, killing him instantly.
Panambur Police led by Inspector Saleem Abbas inspected the crime scene and promptly registered a murder case.
