In a major real estate fraud case, the Pimpri-Chinchwad police have arrested Pratik Rajesh Dhainje, a resident of Dighi Road in Bhosari, for allegedly deceiving more than 500 people with false promises of apartments under the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) scheme.
According to police officials, Dhainje lured victims by claiming he could secure MHADA-constructed flats for them. Hundreds reportedly fell for the trap, trusting his assurances and parting with their money. Authorities are now investigating the full scale of the scam and urging other potential victims to come forward.
The case sheds light on the rising incidents of housing frauds in the region, particularly involving affordable government housing schemes.
