Police have apprehended four individuals in connection with a fatal motorcycle racing incident on Rajpur Road, which resulted in the death of bike taxi passenger Ankit Pal.

The accused have been identified as Pranjal Ramola (22), Abhishek Badoni (21), Lokendra alias Lokesh Bijalwan (22), all from Uttarkashi, and Sumit Rathauri (22) from Dehradun.

The accident occurred on Friday night near Aketa Hotel, when the accused were allegedly racing and attempting to overtake one another at high speed. According to authorities, Pal was travelling as a passenger on a Rapido bike taxi when his motorcycle was struck by two other bikes, causing both him and the driver to fall on the road.

They were rushed to Doon Hospital, where Ankit Pal was declared dead. Police registered a case on Saturday following a complaint by Pal’s mother, Usha Pal.

CCTV footage revealed that after the initial collision, another motorcycle ran over Pal while he was lying on the road. Police said the accused admitted to racing against each other, and pillion riders were reportedly encouraging the high-speed chase. They have been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and for overspeeding on a public road.
