In a major breakthrough, the Uttar Pradesh STF and Lucknow Police arrested Pramod Kumar Upadhyay, 46, for masterminding a massive real estate fraud scheme that targeted members of the Army and paramilitary forces. The arrest occurred on June 15 near Jyotinagar, based on intelligence suggesting Upadhyay would visit his old office near Kanha Upvan in Mohanlalganj to collect documents.
Upadhyay, operating under the company name Infra Vision Pvt Ltd, allegedly duped over 100 buyers by selling fake or disputed land parcels in Lucknow and nearby areas. Most of the victims were serving or retired defence personnel who couldn’t verify the land in person due to their active duties.
DCP South Nipun Agarwal confirmed that Upadhyay is the main accused in over 30 FIRs related to land fraud. Additional SP (STF) Lal Pratap Singh, who led the operation, said the accused strategically preyed on the trust of uniformed services personnel, offering “prime land” but never transferring actual ownership or possession.
Police are continuing investigations to trace more victims and possible accomplices in what appears to be a multi-crore real estate racket.
