In a major breakthrough, a joint team of Bihar and Odisha Police arrested notorious bank robber Pramod Bind, also known as Santosh, from the Buddha Colony area of Patna on Monday. The arrest was made following a tip-off, as confirmed by DSP (Law and Order) Sangeeta.
Pramod Bind, a resident of Ghosi police station area in Jehanabad district, is linked to a series of high-profile bank robberies across multiple states, including Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat.
Police recovered over Rs1 lakh in cash from his hideout in Patna. Buddha Colony SHO Sadanand Shah revealed that the accused has confessed to involvement in at least four major robberies, although he is named in over 15 FIRs.
One of his most infamous heists includes the August 18, 2022 robbery at a Bank of India branch in Jamshedpur’s Ulidih police station area, where robbers, posing as CBI officers, looted 2,324 grams of gold jewellery and Rs33 lakh cash.
He was also the mastermind behind a daylight robbery of over Rs22 lakh from an Indian Bank branch at Katra Chowk in Sheikhpura, and led another major bank heist in Odisha in 2023.
According to authorities, Bind had been living in Buddha Colony, concealing his identity to avoid detection. His prior arrest was recorded in Gaya in 2017.
The arrest marks a significant victory for law enforcement agencies tracking inter-state crime syndicates.
