A case of fraud has been registered at the Gangolli Police Station after two individuals allegedly cheated multiple people of ₹86.79 lakh by promising jobs and visas for employment abroad.
The accused, Prakruthi and Elton Rebello, who run Annekal Public School in Bengaluru, reportedly visited Gangolli in April 2024 and met Tina Nazareth of Gujjadi. They allegedly promised to arrange employment visas for jobs in Australia and collected large sums of money from Tina and her acquaintances.
Tina reportedly transferred Rs34 lakh, while her friends — Johnson Fernandes Rs8 lakh, Leeta Pinto Rs6.8 lakh, Sophia Pinto Rs19.5 lakh, and Reena Praveen Noronha ₹Rs8 lakh — collectively paid a total of Rs86.79 lakh in several instalments.
The visas were never provided, and the accused failed to return the money, leading to allegations of fraud. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
