Immigration authorities at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad arrested a man and two agents involved in a fake passport scam. The accused were apprehended after the man arrived from Germany using a forged passport.
The main accused, Prakash Dave, a resident of Surat, landed in Ahmedabad on a Qatar Airways flight from Berlin. During routine checks, officials found no record of his prior departure from India, triggering further investigation.
Upon detailed questioning, it was uncovered that Dave had paid Rs 15 lakh to an agent named Dishu, who collaborated with another agent, Mahesh, to secure a fake Indian passport issued under the name Joshi Rakesh Harish. Dave used this false identity to travel to Germany.
While in Germany, Dave informed the Indian Embassy in Berlin that his passport was lost and obtained an Emergency Certificate—a temporary travel document that allowed him to return to India.
Following these revelations, police arrested Prakash Dave along with agents Dishu and Mahesh in India. The airport police have registered a case and launched a full investigation into the passport forgery racket.
