Prakasam Police Seize 14-kg Ganja, Arrest Two in Train Raid

Anand Rana and Milu Matali nabbed for narcotics smuggling

As part of intensified operations against ganja and narcotics smuggling, the Prakasam district police conducted thorough inspections at Ongole Railway Station and onboard trains on Monday.

During checks on train number 18189, Ernakulam Junction Express, police recovered approximately 14 kilograms of ganja and arrested two suspects.

The accused were identified as Anand Rana (47) from Belisarda, Balangir district, Odisha, and Milu Matali (25) from Khaliyamunda, Boudh district, Odisha. Both were handed over to the GRP police for further investigation.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of CI Sudhakar of the Women Police Station, with teams from Special Party, Eagle Team, and the assistance of sniffer dog Jackie. Officials systematically examined suspicious parcels, passengers’ baggage, railway premises, and train coaches, highlighting a proactive approach to curbing narcotics trafficking in the district.
