The Ludhiana Police have arrested a suspect involved in a violent robbery incident, recovering a motorcycle, five mobile phones, and a snatched purse from his possession.
Sharing details, Dev Singh, ADCP Zone-3, and Jatinderpal Singh, ACP (West), said that Rajinder Pal Singh, SHO of PAU Police Station, received a complaint from Vikas Kumar on March 11.
The complainant reported that on the evening of March 6, while he was near a local market, two men riding a black Hero Splendor motorcycle blocked his path. He identified them as Pradeep alias Vadda Lalla of Pratap Singh Wala and Rahul of F-Block, Rishi Nagar.
According to the complaint, the duo demanded his mobile phone and money, claiming they needed funds to buy drugs. When Vikas resisted, Pradeep allegedly threatened him with a sharp iron weapon while Rahul struck him with an iron rod. During the assault, Pradeep forcibly took the victim’s mobile phone, and Rahul snatched his purse containing Rs1,000, an Aadhaar card, and personal photographs before fleeing on their motorcycle.
The injured victim was first treated at Civil Hospital Ludhiana and later shifted to another medical facility for further treatment.
After registering a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police launched an investigation and arrested Pradeep alias Vadda Lalla. Officers recovered the stolen motorcycle, the victim’s purse, five mobile phones of different brands, and an iron weapon used in the crime.
Police said the accused is currently being interrogated, and further details may emerge as the investigation continues.
