The cyber police have arrested a man from Bihar for allegedly duping people through a fraudulent lottery scheme called “Gandhi Lottery.”

According to a joint statement by Murad Jasvir Singh, ACP (Cyber Crime), and Inspector Satbir Singh, in-charge of the cyber police station, Prabhat Kumar, a resident of Bihar, was apprehended following raids at multiple locations in Nawada, Purnia, and Patna.

The case originated after a complainant was lured by a fake lottery win of Rs 5 lakh. Investigation revealed that Prabhat Kumar, along with accomplices, operated the fraudulent lottery scheme. Victims were targeted through WhatsApp messages and phone calls, claiming they had won large lottery sums. To claim the prize, victims were asked to deposit money as “registration fees, processing charges, or administrative costs.”

Police confirmed that the operation involved multiple victims, and further investigation is underway to identify all persons involved and trace the defrauded money.
