KATHMANDU, July 3 — Prabhas Rijal, 40, a resident of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-25, has been arrested for allegedly defrauding more than Rs 12 million by promising high-paying jobs in the United Kingdom.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Rijal collected approximately Rs 12.04 million from multiple victims with the assurance of securing lucrative employment opportunities abroad. However, after receiving the money, Rijal reportedly cut off contact with the victims.

A special team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, apprehended Rijal on Wednesday in Ekantakuna, Lalitpur. Police confirmed that Rijal had deceived people by assuring them overseas jobs, but then disappeared.

He has now been handed over to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal proceedings. Authorities continue to warn the public to be cautious of similar fraudulent schemes.
