Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, better known as Portable, has once again been taken into police custody. On April 13, 2025, he was arrested in Abeokuta, Ogun State, by officers of the Kwara State Police Command.

This arrest came after Fuji musician Saheed Osupa filed a formal petition against Portable, accusing him of criminal defamation and a range of serious offenses. The petition claims Portable’s actions involved criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, character assassination, the use of abusive language, and conduct likely to provoke unrest.

According to police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the evidence supporting these allegations led to the issuance of a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin. The police emphasized that the arrest was made in full compliance with legal procedures.

Following the court’s directive, police officers proceeded to Abeokuta, where they apprehended Portable around 7:25 p.m. He was quickly transported to Ilorin for further investigation.

Upon arrival, Portable’s statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both parties, and the process followed all required legal protocols.

As of now, Portable remains in police custody, and the Kwara State Police have indicated that they are preparing to bring him before the court soon. This incident adds to the ongoing legal issues surrounding Portable, a figure often in the news for his controversies as much as his music. The Kwara State Police have assured the public that the case will proceed transparently and lawfully.
