The Porbandar Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested eight people, including two key masterminds, in connection with the robbery of cash and jewellery worth Rs 19.7 lakh from a house in Kandorna village, Ranavav taluka, on July 28.

The robbery was allegedly planned by the brother-in-law of the complainant, Karsan Ahir (60). The accused stole 27 tolas of gold and Rs 80,000 in cash during the attack.

According to Porbandar SP Bhagirathsingh Jadeja, six masked men armed with knives barged into Ahir’s home, gagged him, his wife Pami, and daughter-in-law Jashu with plastic tape, assaulted them, and carried out the loot.

A coordinated operation involving LCB, Special Operations Group (SOG), Parole and Furlough Squad, and Ranavav police used CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and human intelligence to track the gang’s vehicle from Ranavav towards Jamnagar. Police intercepted it and recovered the stolen valuables.

LCB in-charge Inspector RK Kambariya said the first arrests included Ravirajsingh Jadeja, Jatin Pal, Siddheshwar alias Sidhu Parmar, Sahil alias Kalu Yadav, Neeraj alias Bathiyo Chauhan, and Vishal Chaudhary.

During interrogation, Ravirajsingh confessed that the robbery was masterminded by Ahir’s brother-in-law, Dilip Sanjva, and his associate Praful Charadva, who had provided details of the house layout, valuables, and family members’ movements. They were promised 50% of the loot.

Based on this, Sanvja and Charadva were also arrested. Preliminary investigations revealed that Sanjva is a habitual offender with a prior case for kidnapping and murder in Gandhinagar district.

The swift action by the Porbandar LCB marks a major success in solving a high-profile residential robbery case.
