The Dehradun Police have arrested Poonam Chaudhary from Yamunanagar, Haryana, in connection with a major land registry fraud case. Chaudhary had been absconding for months after her alleged involvement in the illegal transfer of a property located on Kaulagarh Road, Rajendra Nagar, originally owned by Pyarelal Kaul.
The investigation revealed that Swarn Singh and Amit Yadav, in collaboration with others, created forged documents to register the property in Singh’s name, later transferring it to Yadav, who subsequently executed a gift deed in Chaudhary’s name. Using these fake documents, Chaudhary attempted to gain possession through a civil case filed in Dehradun court via advocate Kamal Virmani. All three—Singh, Yadav, and Virmani—had already been arrested.
Chaudhary remained elusive despite multiple police raids, prompting a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to her capture. Acting on specific leads and surveillance data, the Special Operations Group (SOG) tracked her to a residential area in Yamunanagar, Haryana. She was arrested, presented in court, and sent to judicial custody on Wednesday.
The Dehradun SSP, Ajai Singh, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests or developments are expected as more details emerge.
