Hyderabad Police’s Cyber Crime Wing arrested Ponnaganti Tej Kumar, 30, from Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, for duping a student of Rs1.70 lakh in a sophisticated fake job racket. The accused impersonated an HR representative of Accenture to scam the victim.
The 23-year-old student from Asifnagar was contacted via WhatsApp by Tej Kumar, who referenced the victim’s resume and offered a lucrative job package of Rs6.5 lakh per annum. To lend credibility, the accused used a spoofed email resembling that of a real Accenture employee.
Believing the offer was genuine, the victim transferred Rs1.7 lakh in four instalments between July 27 and 31, 2025, labeled as ‘processing charges.’ After receiving the money, the accused ceased all communication, prompting the victim to file a complaint.
Police revealed that Tej Kumar is a habitual cyber fraudster, with several cases registered against him across the tri-commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda. The investigation is ongoing.
Authorities advise the public to verify job offers carefully and avoid making payments to unknown contacts.
