Police Solve Diesel Theft Case in Awantipora, Two Arrested

137 litres of stolen diesel recovered; suspects arrested using CCTV surveillance

in a swift breakthrough, the Awantipora Police have solved a diesel theft case reported in Pampore, arresting two suspects and recovering approximately 137 litres of stolen diesel.

According to a police spokesperson, the investigation began after Mohammed Younis Shah, a resident of Khankahbagh Pampore, filed a complaint on May 31, 2025. Shah reported that diesel had been siphoned off from a truck (JK13F-3017) parked outside his home.

Following the complaint, a case was registered at Police Station Pampore (FIR No. 65/2025) under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation was launched.

Under the supervision of SHO Pampore, police teams utilized modern surveillance techniques, including extensive CCTV footage analysis, to identify the culprits.

The accused have been identified as:

Happy Kumar, son of Devindar Kumar, resident of Bada Dowlatpora, Pathankot, Punjab

Lucky Kumar, son of Devindar Kumar, resident of Bada Dowlatpora, Pathankot, Punjab

Both men were arrested and 137 litres of stolen diesel was recovered from their possession. Further investigation into the case is ongoing to determine if the accused were involved in other similar crimes.

The Awantipora Police have reiterated their commitment to curbing petty crimes and safeguarding public property.
