A police officer has been arrested in connection with a string of violent robberies reported in Bondo Sub-County last week, authorities have confirmed.
Police Constable Mark Owino (service number 2448844) was apprehended on Saturday evening at Holo Police Station at around 7:40 p.m., according to an incident report filed at Bondo Police Station.
The arrest follows investigations into a robbery with violence reported at Lwala Kotiende Police Station on February 4, 2026, at approximately 3:40 a.m. The incident occurred at Ajigo Trading Centre, where armed suspects were captured on CCTV footage harassing a trader before robbing him and fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
Investigators believe the footage played a key role in identifying the suspects linked to the attack. Authorities have confirmed that Constable Owino is currently in custody and will assist with ongoing investigations, including participating in an identification parade.
The officer is expected to be arraigned at the Bondo Law Courts on February 9, 2026. The case is being handled by the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) in Bondo as inquiries continue into the broader robbery incidents.
