In a recent land fraud case, social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) revealed that Sirbalo, a popular comedian, was allegedly duped into buying a piece of land worth N60 million in Abuja. According to VDM, Sirbalo and his friends saw the land online, conducted surveys, and checked the property thoroughly before proceeding with the purchase. They paid the seller and received the documents, only to later discover that the land they bought actually belonged to someone else.
Upon returning to the land for development, Sirbalo and his team found that another person was the rightful owner. When they tried to locate the seller, they discovered that he had disappeared, leaving behind only a rented apartment. The fraudster had used this rented space, aware that Sirbalo was planning to make the purchase.
After months of searching, the police finally arrested the suspect based on a petition filed by VeryDarkMan. Josephine Adeh, the police spokesperson in Abuja, confirmed that the suspects had been difficult to track due to their frequent changes of phone numbers and communication tactics. However, the police were able to apprehend them after an extensive investigation.
Adeh explained that the suspects had a pattern of targeting landowners, selling land that wasn’t theirs, and then disappearing. She added that the FCT police command had worked hard to capture the culprits, who are now in custody.
“We were able to arrest all the suspects, and the investigation is ongoing,” Adeh said. “We are working to determine whether these individuals are part of a larger syndicate and how long they’ve been involved in such fraudulent activities.”
The investigation continues as the authorities aim to uncover the full extent of the scam and whether other individuals were involved in defrauding Sirbalo and others.
