On Thursday, police in Ri Bhoi District detained two drug traffickers with heroin at a petrol station in Shanbangla. Acting on a reliable tip-off, officers apprehended Peter Lamare (31) and Vikash Masih (29) at approximately 3:45 PM. The duo was traveling on a scooty, registered as ML 05 T 2927, when their vehicle was searched.
The search led to the discovery of four soap cases, containing a total of 46.14 grams of heroin. Both individuals are residents of Punjabi Lane in East Khasi Hills District.
According to authorities, the two suspects were traveling from Guwahati with the intention of selling the narcotics in Shillong. In their confessions, they admitted to their drug addiction and significant debt, explaining that they resorted to trafficking drugs to pay off what they owed.
