ARLINGTON, Tenn. — A lieutenant with the Piperton Police Department, Charles Taylor, was arrested on Friday morning after being charged with domestic assault—bodily harm. The arrest followed a domestic dispute in Arlington.
According to court records, Taylor allegedly woke up a woman who was sleeping on the couch, demanding sex. When the woman attempted to flee, Taylor reportedly chased her, grabbed her, and dragged her back into the house. Witnesses say Taylor used aggressive language and knocked over household items during the incident. The woman eventually managed to defend herself by using a stun gun on Taylor three to four times, causing him to fall and allowing her to escape.
Taylor has been relieved of his duties pending the outcome of the case. Prior to his position with the Piperton Police Department, Taylor worked for both the Memphis Police Department and Oakland Police Department, and is also associated with a private security firm.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
