CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuelan authorities have arrested Pierina Uribarri, an alleged accomplice in the shocking murder of TikTok influencer Jesus Sarmiento, who was gunned down during a livestream after denouncing criminal gang members and corrupt police officers.
Sarmiento, who had over 77,000 followers on TikTok, was live broadcasting when armed attackers stormed the residence where he was staying and fatally shot him. The incident sent shockwaves across social media.
Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab announced Uribarri’s arrest via Instagram, identifying her as the partner of Adrian Romero, the man suspected of firing the fatal shots. Prosecutors have charged Uribarri with intentional homicide, criminal association, and terrorism.
Authorities continue to search for Romero and two other suspects: Wilbert Gonzalez and Gerald Nieto, both of whom have active arrest warrants for their alleged roles in the attack.
The killing has drawn widespread attention due to its public nature and Sarmiento’s prior criticism of the Tren de Aragua, a powerful Venezuelan gang. The investigation is ongoing.
