In a major anti-drug operation, Phiringia police on Monday apprehended two individuals and seized 60 kilograms of ganja at Ganjukhol village under Phiringia police station limits in Kandhamal district.
The arrested have been identified as Sudam alias Jitendra Sahani, a resident of Badabhuin village, and Bhaskar Karn of Kanibali village. Police have registered a case (No. 43/2026) under the relevant sections of the law.
Acting on credible intelligence, a Phiringia police team led by the SDPO, Sadar, intercepted an illegal consignment of narcotics in the Ganjukhol village area. Upon seeing the police, the accused attempted to flee, but both were immediately apprehended.
During the operation, authorities seized 60 kg of ganja along with the autorickshaw used for transporting the drugs.
The arrested individuals are currently in police custody and are being interrogated. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the narcotics and dismantle the larger network involved in its supply.
