Contractor charged with felony theft after job cancellation

by Amelia Crawford

PARKER COUNTY, Texas — Phillip Wayne Parsons, owner of Phoenix Garage & Gates, was arrested and charged with felony theft after allegedly accepting over $5,100 for two garage doors that were never delivered or installed.

According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, the complainant hired Parsons in December 2024 to install garage doors at two separate locations and paid him $5,175 upfront. Despite numerous attempts to contact Parsons and request a refund, the doors were never delivered, nor was any installation performed.

Parsons admitted to investigators that he canceled the order due to issues at the second location but failed to return the funds to the client. He was subsequently booked into the Parker County Jail on September 16.

Sheriff Russ Authier warned that contractor thefts appear to be increasing in the area. “There are good contractors out there,” he said. “We urge the public to thoroughly vet any contractor and carefully review the terms of service before signing any agreement.”

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious contractor activity to local law enforcement.
