One of Canada’s most wanted fugitives, Phillip Grant, has been arrested in connection with a fatal double shooting that occurred in south Etobicoke more than two years ago.
Toronto police confirmed the arrest of 34-year-old Grant, a resident of Peel Region, on Wednesday. He was apprehended in Mississauga earlier that day.
Homicide investigators had been actively searching for Grant since August 2022, after he was identified as the prime suspect in a shooting that took place on January 3, 2022, at 150 Thirtieth Street in Etobicoke.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. on that day, police discovered two victims, 24-year-old Minyali Wur and 20-year-old Chudier Reat, who had both sustained gunshot wounds. Tragically, they were later pronounced dead at the hospital. A third victim, whose identity remains unknown, was also injured but survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
Phillip Grant now faces serious charges, including two counts of second-degree murder, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, and possession of a firearm contrary to an order.
His arrest brings a significant development in a case that has remained unresolved for over two years.
