COVE CITY, NC — A 64-year-old Cove City man, Perry Blake McCoy, is facing serious felony drug and firearm charges following a search of his home that uncovered marijuana, illegal weapons, and even explosive materials.
According to the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, McCoy was arrested and charged with felony manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, two felony counts of trafficking marijuana, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The arrest came after a coordinated search warrant was executed on September 4 at McCoy’s residence at 200 Trent Road by Craven County deputies and New Bern Police officers.
Authorities say that in addition to the drugs and weapons, explosive materials were found on the property. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was called in to assist with the investigation.
McCoy is currently being held at the Craven County Confinement Facility on a $790,000 secured bond. Officials say the investigation remains active and more charges are expected.
