by Sophia Bennett

An Elko man has been arrested following a joint investigation by the Elko Police Department and the Elko County Sheriff’s Office, who say he was operating a drug-selling operation from his home. On June 17, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on the south side of Elko, where they allege Pedro Rodriguez-Ortiz was using his house as a storefront to sell methamphetamine.

During the search, officers discovered approximately 140 grams of methamphetamine, along with cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales. Rodriguez-Ortiz was taken into custody and now faces multiple felony charges, including trafficking methamphetamine in the 100-400 gram range, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and maintaining a property for the sale, use, or distribution of a controlled substance.

The arrest highlights continued law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking in rural Nevada communities.
