The Muktsar police have dismantled a telecom tower equipment theft racket with the arrest of four individuals and recovery of stolen items, officials confirmed on Thursday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Akhil Chaudhary, the gang had been active for months, primarily targeting mobile phone towers across various locations. “One of the accused was a former employee of a private contractor involved in tower installation. This insider knowledge helped the gang plan and execute thefts effectively,” said SSP Chaudhary.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Pawandeep Singh, Bittu Singh, Sitar Mohammad, and Lakhwinder Singh. During interrogation, the accused admitted to stealing valuable equipment from nearly 30 telecom towers in the region.
The police are continuing to investigate the extent of the racket and recover more stolen materials. Authorities have not ruled out the involvement of more individuals.
