HARFORD COUNTY, Md. (WBFF) — A Halethorpe woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars in merchandise from multiple retail stores, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified the suspect as 34-year-old Paulaina L. Nechay, whose arrest was announced on November 21.
The investigation began on October 30, when officers responded to a past theft at a store in the Festival Shopping Center. Nechay allegedly stole more than $1,000 in apparel before fleeing in a vehicle.
On November 8, officers were called back to the same location after the same suspect reportedly returned and stole a high-end kitchen appliance along with additional clothing, valued at about $600.
Detectives later located Nechay’s vehicle at a motel in Edgewood and confirmed she was staying there. During questioning, Nechay allegedly admitted she attempted to steal $500 to $600 worth of merchandise daily, often selling the stolen goods at local gas stations for half their retail price.
Nechay was arrested and later released on a $3,000 unsecured bond. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation into her activities remains ongoing.
