Patty Gray Arrested in Dagsboro Vulnerable Adult Theft

Months-long police investigation leads to multiple charges

by Sophia Bennett

DAGSBORO, Del. — The Dagsboro Police Department has arrested a Bishopville woman following a months-long investigation into the theft and exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

Police said Patty Gray, 50, was taken into custody on Jan. 16 and charged with crimes against a vulnerable adult, theft exceeding $1,500, identity theft, and related offenses. Gray was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. As a condition of her release, she has been ordered to have no contact with the victim.

The investigation began in November 2025, when officers responded to a fraud complaint in the area of Swamp Road and Lingo Street. During the investigation, police determined that the victim — an adult with disabilities — had personal property unlawfully taken.

Authorities said the victim lives in a supervised group home and is classified as a vulnerable adult under Delaware law. The investigation continued for several months before detectives gathered enough evidence to make an arrest.

The case remains under investigation.
