The Pattinambakkam police, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU), arrested three men from Assam on charges of heroin peddling. Officials seized 17.5 grams of heroin during a crackdown near the Srinivasapuram estuary.

Following a tip-off, police intensified surveillance in the area, leading to the arrest of Ejath Ali (27), Aziz (26), and Imran Ali (28). Searches of their residence uncovered the heroin stockpile intended for sale.

Interrogation revealed that the accused had been residing in the city and working as security guards for the past two years. They sourced the heroin from Assam and distributed it to tourists from the United States, Australia, and local Chennai residents.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the broader network behind the narcotics trade.
