Patrick Lindsey, Krysta Macayan Charged in Car Theft Case

Hilo couple accused of stealing Jeep Wrangler in Kona

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hilo couple, Patrick Lindsey, 37, and Krysta Macayan, 39, have been charged with theft after allegedly stealing a rental Jeep Wrangler in Kona in early March.

According to Hawaii County Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen, the vehicle, belonging to Alamo Rental Car, was taken and kept without authorization from March 6 through March 8.

Following an investigation, Hawaii Island police located the stolen vehicle on April 2 at a residence on Vista Drive, where the couple was arrested.

Lindsey faces charges including first-degree theft, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, and two counts of third-degree theft. Meanwhile, Macayan was charged with first-degree theft, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, driving without a license, and two counts of third-degree theft.

Both individuals have since been released. Lindsey posted $15,000 bail, a reduction from the initial $45,000, and Macayan was placed on supervised release following her court appearance.

The case remains under investigation by Hawaii Island authorities.
