Patna cyber police arrested two key cyber fraudsters, Amit Kumar (25) from Nawada and Rahul Kumar (22) from Sheikhpura, breaking a major gang that allegedly fleeced crores of rupees by duping people using fake loan offers via a prominent bank’s app.

The accused, along with accomplices, had been operating for two to three years, targeting mostly victims in South India. Police launched the investigation following a complaint from a victim in South India about fraudulent loan offers.

City SP (West), Bhanu Pratap Singh, explained that the duo distributed pamphlets and posted online ads promising personal loans at reduced interest rates. They also provided a toll-free number, impersonating bank managers, to lure victims.

Upon contacting the numbers, victims received WhatsApp links requesting personal and banking details for loan processing. The fraudsters then used this information to withdraw money illegally from bank accounts.

During the raid, police seized 19 cellphones, a laptop, 15 ATM cards, and Rs 4,500 cash from the accused.
