WARREN COUNTY, N.C. — Shelton Burkart, a 30-year-old pastor at Zion Global Methodist Church in Norlina, was arrested on multiple felony charges involving the sexual exploitation of minors, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) Computer Crimes Unit.
Burkart faces five felony counts of second- and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. The warrant alleges that on June 24, 2024, he knowingly possessed illicit visual material depicting children between the ages of 8 and 12 involved in sexual activity and in dressing rooms.
Though Burkart resides in Warren County, the arrest warrant was issued by the SBI’s Computer Crimes Unit in Raleigh.
He is currently held on a $300,000 bond as the investigation continues.
