In a coordinated operation across multiple locations, Pasighat Police arrested three individuals, including a serving constable from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn), for heroin trafficking. Over 42 grams of suspected heroin were seized during the operation.
Acting on specific intelligence, Pasighat Police, led by Inspector Ige Lollen, raided a rented house in Gumin Nagar, occupied by Mijom Damin, an IRBn constable currently on leave. The search, conducted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, resulted in the recovery of 10.64 grams of suspected heroin, a mobile phone, and Rs2,000 in cash.
Damin’s confession led the police to Ojong Osik, who was apprehended at Kesung Paatang, where 15.81 grams of heroin were seized. Further investigation revealed Sujit Das, operating from Jonai, as the third suspect. Working with Assam Police, a second team led by SI K Dagium arrested Das, recovering 16.19 grams of heroin from his possession.
In total, 42.64 grams of suspected heroin were seized. A case under sections 21(B)/27(2) of the NDPS Act was filed at Pasighat Police Station, with further investigation now in the hands of SI C I Manchey.
The 5th IRBn has suspended Constable Mijom Damin and initiated disciplinary action against him. East Siang SP Pankaj Lamba praised the police team for their swift action and reiterated the district’s zero-tolerance stance on drug-related crimes, urging citizens to report any drug-related activities to the Anti-Drug Squad.
