The Delhi Police have arrested Parth Bhatia, a 24-year-old resident of Moti Nagar, for allegedly cheating a woman by offering her a fake work-from-home job and stealing her laptop.
The victim, Anshula Sharma from Model Town, filed a complaint stating that she was approached on social media with an attractive part-time job offer. After building her trust, Bhatia convinced her to pay a Rs15,000 security fee and hand over her Apple MacBook, claiming it needed an upgrade for the job.
To make the fraud look legitimate, Bhatia arranged for a bike pick-up to collect the laptop from her residence. When she realised it was a scam, Sharma contacted the police.
Acting on the complaint, police registered an FIR and launched an investigation. A team analysed call records, IP logs, and bike ride-booking data, ultimately tracking Bhatia to his residence in Moti Nagar, where he was arrested.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to running the scam to fund his gambling addiction. Police also recovered the mobile phone used in the crime and revealed that the number was linked to multiple cyber fraud complaints.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine if Bhatia has more victims.
