A parolee with multiple outstanding warrants was arrested Friday after deputies spotted him and another man towing a stolen pickup truck in Victorville. The arrest occurred around 11:10 a.m. along National Trails Highway near Air Expressway, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Victor Valley Station noticed a Chevrolet truck towing a Ford F-150 and quickly realized the Ford had been reported as stolen. Upon stopping the vehicles, deputies discovered that the man inside the stolen truck was Joshua Dack, 38, of Helendale, a repeat felon wanted for crimes including robbery and burglary. He was considered “armed and dangerous” but was taken into custody without incident.
Dack was arrested on suspicion of auto theft, robbery, burglary, and violating parole terms from a previous conviction. His criminal history includes assault with a firearm and being a convicted felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, according to San Bernardino County Superior Court records. Deputies also found methamphetamine during a search of the Chevrolet truck.
The driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old Efren Lopez from Bakersfield, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession with two or more prior convictions. Dack’s bail was set at $1 million, while Lopez is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
