Pocola, OK — On January 31, 2025, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) made an arrest related to a homicide case from January 16, 2025. The investigation began when the Pocola Police Department requested OSBI assistance after a male was found dead at an abandoned residence.
At around 12:30 p.m. on January 16, Pocola police officers responded to the scene where they discovered the body of 24-year-old Jaybriel Montgomery. The victim had suffered a gunshot wound. Authorities transported the body to the medical examiner’s office for further investigation.
Following an in-depth investigation by OSBI, 24-year-old Parker Maxwell was identified as the suspect in Montgomery’s death. On January 31, a first-degree murder warrant was issued for Maxwell, leading to his arrest by the Fort Smith Police Department in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
